‘International conference on Smart Cities and Emerging Technologies’ was organized in ‘Universal College of Engineering’ on January 5, 2018. The independent objective of the conference was to capture technological innovations and excellence by boosting young researchers to subsidize the concept of smart city for the assistance of the overall development of the nation in terms of its infrastructure as well for supplementary fields. The occasion was graced by the presence of Mr. Brajmohan Das (Life Coach, an inspirational speaker & Resident Monk at ISKCON), as a Guest of Honor and Mr. Saurabh Bhatia (General Manager l Associate IBI GROUP), as the Chief Guest. Mr. Brajmohan Das, in his keynote address, mourned the loss of spirituality in the age of technology and advised the audience to use technology and spirituality together for the betterment of the society. Further, Mr. Saurabh Bhatia explained the concept of Smart City to the audience while sharing his experience of working and developing the city of Bhubaneswar as number one smart city in India. He stressed the need of feedback from the common citizens regarding their expectations of developments in order to build real Smart Cities. He also highlighted the employability prospects to the engineers because of the building of the smart cities. The conference was divided into two technical sessions where total number of 141 papers were presented in the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication, Computer Engineering and Information and Technology. The conference was concluded on valedictory note by Mrs. Pinky Pujara, Director, Universal Education Group and the Chief Patron of the conference, and Mr. Jagdish Salgaonkar, a registered Professional Civil Engineer in USA. Both the guests in their respective addresses congratulated Universal College of Engineering for organizing the International Conference successfully and urged all the delegated to continue their research activity and contribute in building smart India.
