Universal College of Engineering students rocked the IIT Gandhinagar tech fest Amalthea by winning 1st prize in IIT Amalthea‘s event SEISMISM. The competition took place on 4th and 5th November, 2017, where student participants displayed integrated performance. UCoE students dashed the event floor by introducing and backing their ideas related to earthquake resistant building and creating the model for the same. Of the 20 group participated in event, three groups were from UCoE and won the 1st prize.
IIT Bombay Techfest
Students from UCoE participated at IIT Bombay techfest event Crane-oMania and won the title. UCoE’s three groups participated in the competition for designing a cantilever self balancing structuring popsicle structure to sustain maximum eccentric load and gave a tough fight to other college participants. It was a proud moment for UCoEites, where as an emerging college, the student of UCoE are at faceoff with IITians and other mature colleges.
Department of Civil Engineering students attained first position in ‘Bridge Building Competition’ at IIT-Hydreabad at Elan-n-vision event which took place from 9th-11th February, 2018. Participants Ravi Kanojiya, Darshan Mange, Nayan Chavda and Dhruval Suriya were the part of this project competition. Students exhibited their true sprit by taking grave initiative in designing bridge using popsicle sticks. The design was unique and practical in approach.
The Students of UCoE have revealed an immense keenness and passion towards participating in IIT-K ‘Techkriti’. UCoE students were active participant in event of ‘Bridge Design Challenge’. The Bridge Design Challenge comprised of the problem statement of designing a truss Bridge using Spaghetti satisfying the stated constraints. To boost the participation and give them the clear idea about the flow of tech events, Mock events were designed at Universal College Campus by Ms. Sharvari Rath and Mr. Vineet Gupta, Faculty, Civil Dept. Two teams this event out of which one team was first position and second team secured the first runner up.
Department of Civil Engineering student bagged the 1st and 2nd runnerup position at IIT Kharagpur ‘ Megalith’ 2018.
Students of Civil Engineering Department participated in IIT Bombay Aakar held on 17th and 18th March 2018. Students got an opportunity to apply their subjective knowledge into practical implementation in various competition like Seismism, Bridge IT, Conqeur IT, poster presentation, ICES and Cenex. In Cenex model exhibition, UCoE students bagged 1st position on the idea of understanding the innovative concept of earthquake structure designing.
Student from Department of Civil Engineering participated in paper presentation in event Spectra 2018 organized by Sardar Patel College of Engineering. The topic for paper presentation was earthquake resistant structure using voided slab system.
IIT Varanasi Technex 2018
UCoE students from Department of Civil won 1st position in Greenx competition and 1st runnerup in bridge IT competition at Technex, 2018 in Varanasi. In Greenx, students got the opportunity to present their innovative ideas on waste management and in bridge it, students displayed the design of cantilever self balancing structure using
popsicle where they were able to exhibit innovative aesthetics of bridge using various designing software.
Inauguration of Computer Society of India – UCOE Student Chapter
Computer Society of India (CSI) is the largest and most professionally managed association of and for I.T. professionals in India. The purposes of the Society are scientific and educational directed towards the advancement of the theory and practice of Computer Science and I.T. The organisation has grown to an enviable size of 100,000 strong members consisting of professionals with varied backgrounds including Software developers, Scientists, Academicians, Project Managers, CIO’s, CTO’s & IT vendors.
Keeping in mind the interest of the IT professionals & computer users CSI works towards making the profession an area of choice amongst all sections of the society. The promotion of Information Technology as a profession is the top priority of CSI today. To fulfill this objective, the CSI regularly organizes conferences, conventions, lectures, projects, awards. And at the same time it also ensures that regular training and skill updating are organised for the IT professionals. Education Directorate, CSI helps physically challenged citizens by providing training ‘Punarjani’. CSI also works towards a global approach, by seeking out alliances with organizations overseas who may be willing to
come forward and participate in such activities. CSI also helps governments in formulating IT strategy & planning.

Inauguration of National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) Local Chapter
NPTEL is an initiative by 7 Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) for creating course contents in engineering and science. Through this initiative, it offers online courses and certification in various topics. NPTEL has been offering self-study
courses across engineering, humanities and science streams for more than a decade. To take this initiative forward and to encourage more students across our colleges to participate in this initiative, we have set up NPTEL chapter in our college.

IEEE and its members inspire a global community to innovate for a better tomorrow through its highly-cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities.
The IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) is a transnational society with more than 10,500 members and 190 chapters worldwide. This society promotes the advancement of microwave theory and its applications, including RF, microwave, millimeter-wave and terahertz technologies.

Inauguration of International Society of Automation (ISA)
ISA is a nonprofit professional association that sets the standard for those who apply engineering and technology to improve the management, safety, and cyber security of modern automation and control systems used across industry and critical infrastructure.
Founded in 1945, ISA develops widely used global standards; certifies industry professionals; provides education and training; publishes books and technical articles; hosts conferences and exhibits; and provides networking and career development programs for its 40,000 members and 400,000 customers around the world.
Our college is proud to inaugurate the ISA student section. ISA sections are local resource and networking hub to connect with like-minded professionals, learn about new technologies and contribute talents towards building the next generation of automation professionals. Many sections offer scholarships to deserving local students, organize
efforts to contribute to the local community and provide networking opportunities.
Vigilance Awareness Week
The Vigilance Awareness Week was celebrated from 26th October to 31st October, 2015 in India. This initiative is owned and encouraged by Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Government of India. The theme for the Vigilance Awareness this year was “Preventive Vigilance as a tool of Good Governance”. The Commission has been laying stress on Preventive Vigilance and driving home the point that vigilance should not be seen in isolation but as a tool to achieve good governance and better operational results.
Our college students whole heartedly participated in this initiative and thus have stayed connected with the movement.
First step towards launch of an eYantra Lab Setup Initiative (eLSI)
e-Yantra, an initiative by IIT Bombay is a project to spread education in Embedded systems and Robotics. One of their initiatives, e-Yantra Lab Setup Initiative (eLSI) supports infrastructure creation at colleges by providing a platform for training teachers both in theory and applications of Robotics, in addition to providing guidance in setting up a Robotics lab at the college. eLSI aims to enable colleges to teach Robotics and Embedded systems in an effective manner by training the faculty members of colleges, in the basics of Embedded systems theory and Micro-controller programming by IIT Bombay.
Our college has taken the first step towards launching the eYantra Lab. This lab will provide a platform for our college students to implement and showcase their innovative ideas. Increased enthusiasm amongst students, better BE projects with help from e-Yantra open source community; better performance at competitions such as the e-Yantra Robotics Competition (eYRC); eligibility for participating in e-Yantra Ideas are few of the benefits of
initiating this project.
Our students inaugurated a Geological Museum within the campus. Till date 2500+ visitors have visited the museum. The purpose of geological museum is to make people aware about different rocks and minerals and its application as raw or finished product in industries and interior designing projects. Our Geological Museum is a home to one of the finest collections of geological rocks and minerals. More then 150 rare minerals and 150 rare rocks acquired from all over the India. The museum also has 50+ models and also maps of interior structure of
earth. This models or prototype help the students to study the composition of earth, faults, folds, joints and unconformity.
Design & development of All Terrain Vehicle – ATOM 0105
Our students with the help of our faculty have designed and developed an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV). The main vision behind developing this ATV is to bring the engineering applications of different streams under one roof, viz. Mechanical, Electronics, Telecommunication, Computers and I.T.
During the process of designing they also learnt how to handle pressure during the development phases of a project such as time management, think more creatively and innovatively and with enhanced features, risk management, team-work and multi-tasking.
This entire project was funded by the college. It is the endeavour of our college to encourage students to present their innovative raw ideas to our faculty members which then gets transformed into reality with the help of guidance and funding.
Conceptualising & Designing of a Robot for Robowars Competition
It all started with seed of resourceful belief initiated and projected by the team comprising of our students Dhruvin Bhuva, Tanay Makwana, Pratik Lotankatar, Aditya Patel and Pratik Nikam. Under consistent and continuous guidance of our faculty, this team designed a robot with the purpose of participating in various Robowar competitions.
During the process of development of this Robot the students went through several experiences of failure and learnt how to find the right solution and over-come failures and move forward. The entire project was funded by our college. As a result, an immensely sturdy robot was designed and named UCOE LEGEND which was able to face strongest competing robots and win several competitions during the current academic year.
Our student selected for Summer Internship at IIT Bombay
Ms. Ekta Sharma, our student was selected for a two months Summer Internship program at IIT Bombay. There was a very tough competition for these limited vacancies where more than 3,000 students participated and she was one among the very few who was selected.
Entrepreneurship Initiative by our student – Ultra Flexible Micro Controller Development Board
It all initiated with our student Tanay Makwana designing a unique educational product which was appreciated by a couple of educational institutes. This indigenously designed UFMC development board by Tanay is superior to those existing in the market as it gives flexibility of allowing to burn any program with the micro-controller. At the second
stage, on analysing the financials vis-à-vis the product features offered to the customer, it was clearly known that this advanced version could be offered to the customer at immensely low price as compared to the market and hence this product was encouraged to be taken to the market for mass production and sale. The seed funding of this project is
being done by our college thus encouraging the budding entrepreneur who is being guided by our in-house team for launching the product.
App designed by our student was purchased and used by colleges
Our student Mr. Shubham Kokul has developed an application using JAVA, HTML, JSP and SQL with the Model for developing being MVC2. This App was designed for Fun Events which can be used by Engineering and other colleges during their Technical Fests. This application was proved to be very user-friendly and was used by our college for VYRO our Tech-Fest and was also purchased by other 2 colleges, viz. S.N.D.T. and by Fr. Agnel Polytechnic College-Vashi.
